Neurological diseases are a global burden, with huge consequences both in mortality and morbidity. Research efforts towards the search for neuroprotective substances in hopes to curtailing the consequences of these diseases are continuous. Most neurodegenrative diseases are usually a consequence of excess production of oxygen radicals from oxidative stress. The oxygen radicals are mopped up by antioxidants produced endogenously or from nutritional supplements. Flavonoids are rich sources of antioxidants. Thus have the ability to scavenge free radicals, making them harmless. There are abundant plants known to be rich in antioxidants. Kolaviron is the biflavonoid complex and most abundant constituent of one of such plants, Garcinia kola. Due to the antioxidant properties of kolaviron it will have the potential to protect neurons from toxic damage, and that is the focus of this work. Also this work hopes to encourage more researches amongst bio-medical scientists in search for more neuroprotective plant sources as these may make a key contribution to controlling and curtailing neurological diseases.
The King of Avalon had sworn to marry the first woman he met who didn't talk his ears off. He'd made the vow in jest, but then he'd taken refuge in that cottage in the Dark Woods and found the woman of his dreams. Young, beautiful...and silent! What more could a man ask for? With an absent-minded king for a father and twelve motherless, trouble-prone brothers to care for, Princess Arianne has had her hands full. Then her brothers go a little too far with their pranks and a witch turns them into swans. The only way Arianne can free them from the curse is by knitting twelve shirts of nettles without ever saying a word. She's convinced things can't get any worse until a tall, dark, handsome, and incredibly arrogant man strolls through her cottage door, demanding his dinner and tracking mud across her freshly mopped floor. And she can't say a word about it!

The Winspeares are well-bred though not well-heeled, but optimistic and past-masters at making the best of things. Only average in looks, height and achievement, together they survive and flourish in a changing world. Polly, the narrator, born in 1972, takes us back to November 1945, when the 12th baronet, determined not to lose Winspeare Hall, opens its doors to near and distant kin. Orphaned at the age of seven, Polly is mopped up into the family and records their lives and love-lives, their care of Cousin Georgie, who, 'isn't all there', and their involvement in local events, the troubles in Northern Ireland, the Falklands and First Gulf Wars and National Elections. High spots in her life are school holidays when she and her young kinsman, Chad, are inseparable, a partnership that takes them into adult life.
When the 1st Marine Division began its invasion of Peleliu in September 1944, the operation in the South Pacific was to take but four days. In fact, capturing this small coral island in the Palaus with its strategic airstrip took two months and involved some of the bloodiest fighting of the Second World War in the Pacific. Rather than the easy conquest they were led to expect, the Marines who landed on Peleliu faced a war of attrition from the island's Japanese defenders, who had dug tunnels and fortified the island's rugged terrain. When the Marines' advance stalled after a week of heavy casualties, the "Wildcats" of the 81st Infantry Division were called in, at first as support. Eventually, the 1st Marines Division was evacuated and the 81st Infantry secured the island. Now Bobby C. Blair and John Peter DeCioccio tell the story of this campaign through the eyes of the 81st Infantry to offer a revised assessment. Previous accounts of the battle have focused on the 1st Marines, all but ignoring the 81st Infantry Division's contributions. Victory at Peleliu demonstrates that without the army's help, the marines could not have succeeded on Peleliu. Blair and DeCioccio have mined the 81st Division's unit records and interviewed scores of veteran participants. The new data they offer challenges the orthodox view that the 81st Infantry merely mopped up an already broken enemy. Allowing their interviewees to tell much of the story, the authors also give a human face to a brutal battle. The book is published by University of Oklahoma Press. 1. Language: English. The present study was conducted at Department of Microbiology of Vydehi Institute Of Medical Science and Research Centre, Bangalore on 100 clinically diagnosed CSOM patients attending ENT OPD were studied for bacteriological (aerobic and anaerobic) and fungal flora from January 2017 to June 2018.Ear discharge was collected under strict aseptic precautions from the affected ear of CSOM cases. Excess discharge was mopped up from external auditory canal and it was cleaned with 70% alcohol first and was allowed to dry for 30-40 seconds to achieve sterile area. Then with four sterile swabs specimen was collected. 1st swab was for gram staining and wet mount preparation using 10%.KOH . 2nd swab was subjected for aerobic culture on Blood agar, MacConkey agar and Chocolate agar. 3rd one was used for anaerobic culture by inoculated in Robertson Cooked Meat media soon after the collection of the specimen. 4th swab was used for mycological culture on two Sabouraud's dextrose agar plate without antibiotics. After isolation, Gram stain, biochemical reactions were done for bacterial isolates and LPCB mount , slide culture were done for fungal isolates according to the standard procedures.
This story takes place on Nantucket in the early 1970's where Mr. Winship Cate, who lives in Wauwinet, is prompted by his children to clean out a lot of clutter from his home after his wife Mary has passed away. This task will take up to a month to complete the way his friends and family have sectioned up the house to attack the different projects. The last of the projects to tackle is above the garage. A large, beautiful room with windows showing off the fantastic views in every direction. The door leading into the attic has not been opened in the last twenty years and the room is filled with furniture that was left behind from the previous owners after the sale of the house to Winship in the 50's. After the room has been cleared out and all the items are sorted for either a garage sale, the dump or an antique auction, Winship easily parts with all of the belongings except for a beautiful leather chair, a reading lamp and ottoman along with a side table that he asks the workers leave behind for him. Winship enters the attic area amazed at what a beautiful and enormous space the room is. With the windows open, a nice breeze blows across and the sunlight shines in. As he settles into the leather chair to take it all in, he tries to use the lamp but the bulb seems to be burnt out. He retreats to the main house and finds a replacement. After removing the burnt out bulb and placing it on the floor it rolls into a dark corner eave. Realizing that it would be disrespectable to leave it like a piece of trash since the room has just been spotlessly cleaned, mopped and waxed by his friends, he kneels down peering into the darkened cove. Not wanting to stick his bare hand inside, due to the possibility of a spider bite, he locates a pair of tongs from the kitchen and a flashlight. Winship manages to snag the bulb but when he shines the light beam into the darkened cavern he notices a box tucked way back. At first he thought it was just part of the wood frame of the garage but after a closer look he now sees it is a box covered in an old worn cloth almost out of reach. After a few attempts Winship manages to remove it. As he sets it upon his lap, while sitting under the lamp in the leather chair, he carefully opens it. There is not much inside. Or is there? What could possibly entice Winship to start an adventure that would take him from Nantucket to Fort Lauderdale where he joins his friend Simon Gilmore of Dartmouth England? Discover why they meet in Florida and charter a boat to sail down to the Exuma Islands. How could this box and its contents possibly lead to a murder on Nantucket? Ahh the plot thickens....
